Portfolio 2025

Alexis Jacob (born in 1987) is a Belgian graphic designer who graduated in 2012 from the École de Recherche Graphique (ERG) in Brussels with a master's degree in Editorial Design. Since then, he has been working as a freelance graphic designer, specializing in cultural publishing and more specifically in the design of artist's books.

A regular contributor to the publisher Théophile's Papers (Théophile Calot), he works on projects where the editorial object serves as a mediator between artistic practice and its audience. This process is constructed as a dialogue between the artist, the printer, and the publisher. His work has been recognized with the Fernand Baudin Prijs Award (2013 and 2014) and the Bronze Medal for Best Book Design from all over the World (2015).

Since 2018, Alexis Jacob has been collaborating with the urban planners at Latitude Platform on publishing projects (such as GREEN WITH GREY, CAVES, ÎLOTS D’EAU, SOAK) and communication projects related to citizen participation, notably the CRU8 project. He is also the initiator of the Modernist Maps Brussles project, in collaboration with Gilles Dumoulin. This project, centered on the medium of maps, explores historical themes related to heritage, urban planning, and architecture, with the publication of a first map tracing the interwar period in 2022.

Alongside his graphic design work, Alexis Jacob co-founded the Small Hands studio with Julien Dutertre in 2019. Specializing in the design of architectural exhibition models, the studio has collaborated with institutions such as BAUKUNST, AgwA, Bureau Bas Smets, 51N4E, Lacaton & Vassal, and the Kanal – Centre Pompidou.

In parallel, he co-founded Jaco Mnes, an artistic duo with multidisciplinary designer Pauline Omnes in 2025. Their practice unfolds at the intersection of art, design, and display, developing instruction-based experiments and object-driven narratives. Through collaborative processes and subtle shifts in use, their projects generate series that navigate between functionality and fiction.
